Why merino for healthcare

The fibre that works as hard as you do.

Most scrubs are 65% polyester. That's fine for a lab-grown t-shirt - not for 14 hours on your feet.

Merino is the opposite. It's naturally temperature-regulating, so you stay cool under gowns and warm between crash calls. It's antibacterial by nature, so it resists odour even after back-to-back shifts. It's fire-retardant. It dries faster than synthetics. And unlike polyester, it doesn't shed microplastics into the hospital laundry - or the ocean.

We make scrubs from the same fibre Alpine climbers trust at 4,000m. Because if it can handle that, it can handle your Monday.

Why no polyester?

Polyester is plastic. Spun from petroleum, shed onto your skin for 12 hours a shift.

In 2022, researchers detected microplastics in 77% of human blood samples tested. In 2024, University of New Mexico researchers found microplastics in every single human testicle they examined - up to 14,000 micrograms per testicle.

Healthcare adopted polyester for one reason: it's cheap. Bottles, spun into thread, sold to hospitals at a 400% markup.

Fino is RWS-certified merino. Zero polyester. Zero compromises.
